Abstract

This study has 2 purposes. (1) Describe the use of lexical cohesion in the textbooks of curriculum 2013 revision 2017 class VII. (2) Describe the use of grammatical cohesion in the textbook of curriculum 2013 revision 2017 class VII. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Techniques used by data collection are document analysis and literature study. Techniques using by data analysis is content analysis method (content analysis). The results of this study are (1) A number of 80 lexical cohesion data consisting of 47 reps divided into 1 repetition epanalepsis, 31 repetitions tautotes, 9 repetitions mesodiplosis, 5 repetitions anaphoric, and 1 repetition epistrofa. A number of 14 synonyms are divided into 12 synonyms between words with words, 1 synonym of words with phrases, and 1 synonym of phrases with phrases. A number of 9 antonyms are divided into 4 absolute oppositions, 2 opposition relationships, and 3 polar oppositions. A number of 6 collocations, 2 hyponimi, and 2 equivalents. (2) A number of 47 grammatical cohesion data consisting of 15 references divided into 8 reference persons, 3 references demonstrative, and 4 references comparative. Substitution of nominal and Ellipsis causal each of 1 data. A number of 30 conjunctions are divided into 20 additive conjunctions, 3 adversative conjunctions, 3 causal conjunctions, and 4 tempora conjunctions.
