Abstract

Teenage girls are susceptible to anemia. Based on the Health Profile of Sukoharjo in 2015, the prevalence of anemia in SMK N 1 Sukoharjo was quite high at 40%. A number of studies have been reported that attitude and behavior of anemia could influence hemoglobin (Hb) levels. To determine the relationship between attitude of anemia prevention and behavior of consuming blood booster supplement and Hb levels in teenage girls. An observational study with cross-sectional design has been done on 75 young girls which were recruited using proportionte stratified random sampling in SMK N 1 Sukoharjo. Attitude and behavior of consuming blood booster supplement were measured using questionnaire that have been tested by expert judgment with CVI values of 0.65 and 0.59, respectively. Hemoglobin levels was measured by venous blood using chianmethemoglobin method. Correlation test was 2 done using chi square. The results showed that 50.7% of respondeces had an unfavorable attitude, 68.0% did not not consume blood booster supplement and 30,7% had low Hb levels. Both attitude of anemia prevention and behavior of consuming blood booster supplement were not correlated to Hb levels with p value=0.154 and 0.318, respectively. Attitude of anemia prevention and behavior of consuming blood booster supplement did not influence Hb levels of teenage girls in SMK N 1 Sukoharjo
