Abstract

Technological developments in the field of construction increasingly advanced, Along with technological advances make welding needs increasingly needed. Las point is one of the electric resistance welding methods that are often used in the automotive industry. Stainless steel and aluminum are non-detachable materials in the automotive industry. In this research used point welding method with unlike metals and zinc filler metal. The research was done with current parameters of 6000 A, 7000 A, 8000 A and welding time 0,2 second, 0,3 second, 0,4 second. The tests were tensile test with ASME QW-462.9 test standard and vickersmicrohardeness test with AWS test standard D8.9-97. The results showed that the addition of zinc filler metal positively affect the strength of welded joints. The most optimal welded joint strength occurred in the specimens using the filer on the current variation of 8000 A and weld time 0.4 seconds with the value of 1374.22 N. While the results of hardness testing obtained results that the most optimal hardness is found in specimens using filler with variations of current 8000 A and time 0.4 seconds. The hardness of the nugget area has the highest value followed by the HAZ region and the lowest hardness is in the parent metal.
