Abstract

This study aims to determine the process of self disclosure and communication barriers when do self-disclosure of children who get unwed pregnancy to their parents. The type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Informants are choosen through purposive sampling. Researcher takes three informants who have experienced pregnancy before marriage. Data collection techniques use indepth interview and documentation techniques. Validity of data is conducted through membercheck, triangulation of sources and theory. data analysis uses interactive analysis of Miles and Huberman. The result of this research is the process of self-disclosure seen from the depth of self-disclosure is cliches, facts, opinion, and feeling that each informant have a different levels of self-disclosure. Another finding of this study is the degree of closeness between parents and children who tend closer to mother then father. Communication barriers of self-disclosure leads more to internal factors of children unwed-pregnancy. The internal factor is a mind contained within the individual covering the fear of anger from their parents. Each informant has almost the same obstacles. The self-disclosure of three informants has a negotiation and mediation process to avoid the barriers. Keywords: Self-disclosure, Interpersonal Communication, Children, Unwed-pregnancy, Parents.
