Abstract

Non-structural mitigation on flooding is crucial to be done. The condition of SMA Islam Diponegoro is susceptible to flooding. The lack of education on disaster mitigation influenced to its knowledge and understanding. The experimental study aims at analysing the degree of understanding and knowledge about non-structural mitigation on flooding at tenth and eleventh grade of SMA Islam Diponegoro Surakarta. The sampling technique used in this study is census with its whole collected data. There are 22 students as the population of this study which come from tenth and eleventh grade of SMA Islam Diponegoro. The data collection technique is the form of pre-test, post-test and questionnaire then measured by using SPSS20 software. The obtained data showed that knowledge of tenth and eleventh grade students toward non-structural mitigation is good enough while the students’ understanding toward non-structural mitigation on flooding is lower. This is proved through paired method t-test sample obtained score of the probability understanding is 0, 00<0,05Sig score (2-tailed) is lower than probability score, therefore Ho is rejected. While the knowledge obtained Sig score (2-tailed) is 0,93>0,05 higher than probability score, therefore Ho is accepted. It can be summarised that there is a different degree of understanding and knowledge on non-structural mitigation on flooding.
