Abstract
Background: There are women who menstruate without any complaints and some are accompanied by complaints of dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea is a common menstrual cramp and may return and not caused by other diseases. Objective: Knowing effect of warm compresses and deep breathing exercise to reduce primary dysmenorrhea pain. Methods: The research method used was pre experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample used was 20 people. The sample was given a warm compress and deep breathing exercise. A warm compress is provided with a duration of 20 minutes using a hot pot, warm water used at 50oC-60oC is measured using a water thermometer. The deep breathing exercise is given with a duration of 10 minutes, the respondent's position is relaxed, and it is given along with a warm compress. Both interventions are given once on the first day of menstruation. Measurement of pain using Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). Results: The data is not normally distributed after the shapiro-wilk test with pretest sig (p) 0.001 and posttest sig (p) 0.028. There was influence of warm compresses and deep breathing exercise on primary dysmenorrhea pain reduction after wilcoxon test with sig (p) = 0.000. Conclusion: There is the effect of warm compresses and deep breathing exercise to reduce primary dysmenorrhea pain.
