Abstract
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis treatment uses many combinations of drugs. The large number of drug combinations in tuberculosis has the potential to cause drug interactions. Drug interactions that occur can affect the effectiveness of therapy and drug toxicity. This study aims to determine the potential of drug interactions in outpatients diagnosed with tuberculosis at the Hospital of PKU Muhammadiyah Delanggu in 2016. This type of research is non-experimental research with descriptive research design. Data collection using purposive sampling technique. Samples from this study were patients who were diagnosed with intensive phase tuberculosis, received antituberculous therapy and non-antituberculous therapy during 2016. From 67 lung tuberculosis patients, 67 patients were found to have drug interaction with 376 incidence. The potential of drug interaction was obtained by 107 (28,46%) pharmacokinetic mechanism interaction events and 269 (71,54%) incident of mechanism interaction pharmacodynamics. At the severity level, there were 137 (36,44%) major event events, 165 (43,88%) moderate category events and 74 (19,68%) incidence of minor category. Drug interaction with the highest incidence rate was the interaction between isoniazid and ethambutol with moderate category and pharmacodynamic mechanism. The interaction between isoniazid and ethambutol can be overcome by the administration of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) with higher doses and if necessary stopped.
