Abstract
This study discusses how the stereotypical representation of Indonesian Arabic descendants in the movie of Abdullah v Takeshi that has been aired in March 2016. Researcher used the theory of representation from Stuart Hall. This research uses qualitative approach method with semiotics analysis Roland Barthes. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The analytical unit focuses on scenes depicting the life of Indonesian Arabic groups. Data collection techniques are documentation and literature study. The analysis is done by analyzing the data, clarifying it into 3 (three) categories of stereotypes, then doing the process of meaning. Validity of triangulation analysis. The results of the study show that the stereotypical depictions of the life of Indonesian Arab descent in the movie of Abdullah v Takeshi are represented through the signs of Arab attributes, such as prayer rugs, the use of gamis for men, the use of hijab for women, speaking in Arabic, closed relationships with other groups, as well as the main profession as a trader.
