Abstract
The achievement of breastfeeding in Surakarta City in 2017 was 76.7% while the target of infants with exclusive breastfeeding is 80%. The lowest achievement of exclusive breastfeeding was at Puskesmas Gilingan (66.1%). The role of health center staff is very important in improving and supporting social breastfeeding efforts. The purpose of this research is to analyze the roles of community health center staff in socialization, education and campaign to increase exclusive breastfeeding coverage in the working area of Puskesmas Gilingan Surakarta. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research using case study approach. Informant of this research consists of 2 main informants and 3 triangulation informants with purposive sampling technique. The result of this research showed the role of health center staffs in socialization in the form of counseling and individual counseling; education program in the form of class for pregnant women, class for parents with under five child/children. There has been no health campaign implementation in the World Breastfeeding Week celebration. Conclusions from this research socialization and education programs can be implementet but for the campaign has not been implemented because lack of coordination by Puskesmas Gilingan’s staffs. Therefore, health promotion staff should be included in the training of breastfeeding counselors in DKK Surakarta for the implementation of socialization, education and campaign programs can be implemented as planned to increase exclusive breastfeeding coverage in the working area of Puskesmas Gilingan Surakarta.
