Abstract
This study aims to describe the self-disclosure of beneficiaries (cilents) to social workers in interpersonal communication. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling method by taking 4 informants, two people under three months and two people over three months living in Social Care Institution. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, non- participant observation, and documentation. Data validity applied source triangulation. Data analysis used interactive analysis from Miles and Huberman. The results of the research related to the self-disclosure of beneficiaries to the social workers found that each informant has a level of self-disclosure, including 1) cliché level, the openness of the beneficiary began with the disclosure of information to the extent of daily life. 2) the level of facts, the disclosure of information was indicated by reporting factual events occurred within the dormitory. 3) level of opinion, closer information disclosure was characterized by openness about life issues and experiences related to himself. 4) the level of feeling, the beneficiary of self-disclosure was not just what he thinks but also based on the heart. It meant self-disclosure was characterized by the closeness of the relationship that exists between the two in order to build the closeness of the relationship between them. Another finding of this study was that the depth and obstacles that emerged in the self-disclosure of beneficiaries are influenced by two factors namely internal factors (low self-disclosure as well as differences of opinion from individuals) and external factors (environment and time).
