Abstract
Interpersonal communication between parents and their children becomes important in preventing premarital sex in children. The conveyance of a meaning depends on the way the individual conveys that meaning. Methods in this study use qualitative descriptive to explain the reality that occurs in the communication process of parents and children described descriptively through the sentence. The data are obtained from interviews conducted directly and deeply on the informant. Subjects in this study are parents who have young children aged 15-21 years and girls aged 15-21 years. The results show that the role of parents in establishing communication with children has an effect on children's behavior and openness. When the parents do several efforts like building communication, positioning themself as close as possible and being the solution to every child's problem, these will make the child feel comfortable and open to the parents so pre-marital sex behavior could be prevented. In conclusion, parents have an important role in shaping the character of sexuality in children. Parents should provide education and knowledge about sexuality and became controllers to prevent premarital sex in children.
