Abstract
There are several types of soils that have improper properties for the construction of a construction that has low carrying capacity, low shear strength, and large shrinkage of soil. One of the efforts is by reinforcing the sand column above the lime. This study aims to determine the maximum load and decrease of square foundation reinforced sand column above lime and without reinforcing sand column above lime. The sand column above lime as a vertical drain placed under a square square foundation is used to increase the carrying capacity of the soil. The study presented six laboratory tests with and without sand columns over 10 cm 10 cm and 15 cm diameter limits and 10x10 cm and 15x15 cm square foundations on clay soil, maintaining the same moisture content and compaction method. The results of the entire laboratory test show that the soil with sand columns above the lime is able to withstand a larger maximum load and reduce the decline that occurs. Increasing the diameter of the column results in a smaller decrease in value and greater carrying capacity, while increasing the size of the footprint of the foundation results in larger soil bearing capacity and a smaller decrease than increasing the size of the column.
