Abstract
Acrylamide is a raw material used in the manufacture of polymers, and is widely used as a material to purify water. Acrylamide plant from acrylonitrile was established because the need for the material is increasing from year to year. Acrylamide plant is designed to meet domestic needs and does not close the possibility to be exported. The acrylamide plant is designed with a capacity of 20,000 tons / year which operates for 330 days per year. The process of preparing this acrylamide uses a liquid phase hydrolysis process with a composition of 13% by weight of acrylonitrile. The reaction is exothermic, irreversible and run in a liquid-liquid phase liquid Fixed Bed reactor, as well as a non-isothermal operating condition (70°C) of 1 atm pressure. The plant includes a low-risk plant because it takes place in atmospheric conditions. Acrylamide plant with capacity of 20.000 ton / year requires acrylonitrile raw material 942,9399 kg / hour, water 1582,3029 kg / hour and raney copper catalyst. The process support utility includes water supply of 55.797,4424 kg / hr obtained from krenceng reservoir water, saturated steam supply of 2,132.6436 kg / hr obtained from boiler with fuel oil fuel of 65.8588 liter / hour, compressed air requirement of 50 M3 per hour, electricity demand is obtained from PLN and two generators of 500 kW as reserve, fuel as much as 65.8451 liter / hour. This plant is planned to be established in the industrial area of Cilegon, Banten with a land area of 18,500 m2 and the number of employees 101 people. From the economic analysis, this acrylamide factory obtained result of Return On Investment (ROI) before tax equal to 41,06% and after tax equal to 28,74%. Pay Out Time (POT) before tax of 2.34 years while after tax of 3.29 years. Break Even Point (BEP) of 47.67% capacity, and Shut Down Point (SDP) of 29.03% capacity. Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) of 49.5%. Based on the above data, the acrylamide plant from acrylonitrile through hydrolysis process is quite feasible and profitable to be established.
