Abstract

This research entitled "Analysis of Role of Agriculture Sector Against Economy of Sragen Regency Year 1999-2014 (Shift Share)”. The purpose of this research is to know the role of agriculture sector as the leading sector to regional economic condition in Sragen regency and the factors that obstruct and support the development of agriculture sector in Sragen regency. The research used descriptive method which aim to get description about superior sector, commodity and commodity competitiveness in Sragen regency. The data used is secondary data in the form of Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) of Sragen regency obtained from BPS. Data collection techniques using documentation techniques. Data were analyzed using analysis-Marquilass Esteban shift share to determine the performance of the local economy, compared to a larger area (regional or national) as well as the Location Quontient (LQ) to determine the potential for specialization. The results showed that: (1) The agricultural sector in the period of 1999-2014 in Sragen Regency has a competitive advantage that still has the potential to be developed. The production of the agricultural sector has been able to meet the needs of the people of Sragen regency and growth faster than the agricultural sector in general in Central Java province with increased competitiveness ; (2) The contribution of agriculture sector in Sragen has decreased with the value of competitive advantage which is shifted by the processing industry sector as well as the trade sector of hotel and restaurant. This is due to factors that hamper agricultural development, ie the product has not had strong marketing competitiveness, limited information and market mechanism, low quality of human resources of agricultural actors in technological and management satisfaction, limited land ownership, weak business partnership between farmers with entrepreneurs, the weak capital of farmers, and the changing function of agricultural land to non-agricultural. To increase its contribution local governments need to implement various programs that are useful to address the factors that hinder the development of agriculture and industry sectors.
