Abstract
Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is breast milk given to infants and does not receive additional food during the first six months of birth and continues until the age of two years. ASI contains a variety of nutrients that are needed in the growth of a baby's brain that is taurine, lactose, DHA, AA, Omega 3 and Omega 6. Exclusive breastfeeding achievement based on health data profile Central Java Province in 2016 of 42.7%, district Boyolali equal to 52,63% and Sambi Village equal to 40,2%. This shows still below the national target of 80%. One of the causes of failure in exclusive breastfeeding is the knowledge and status of the mother's work so that the mother prefers to give formula and other foods to the baby. Objective: To determine the association the relationship of knowledge and status of mother's work with exclusive breastfeeding in Sambi Village, Sambi District, Boyolali. Methods: This study used Cross-sectional design. Respondents were selected by Simple Random Sampling technique with amount of 60 samples. Maternal knowledge data were obtained using questionnaire of 20 questions and data were analyzed using chi square test. Results: As many as 46 respondents (76.7%) of mother's knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding included in bad category, as many as 36 respondents (60%) work status of mother included in work category, as many as 19 respondents (31,7%). exclusive breastfeeding to infants. There is relationship between mother knowledge with exclusive breastfeeding with value P = 0,046 and there is relation between job status with exclusive breastfeeding with value p = 0,00. Conclusion: existence of relationship of knowledge and status of work of mother with exclusive breast feeding in Sambi Village, Sambi District, Boyolali.
