The power transformer is a part of electric power equipment that serves to transform electrical power from high voltage to low voltage or vice versa. to ensure the reliability of the system in the process of distribution of electrical energy to the loads required device protection system that serves to secure the power transformer from various interference. Differential relay is one of the main protection on power transformer when short circuit or short circuit between phase in internal transformer. The method used in this research is by collecting secondary data obtained from PT. Pertamina (Persero) RU IV Cilacap, literature study phase, and perform mathematical calculations manually. From the calculation results and adjusted to the existing specifications in the market, the ratio of CT ratio for the primary side of 13.8 kV (CTp) is 1500: 5 A and on the secondary side 3.45 kV (CTs) is 5000: 5 A. In the calculations obtained flow setting a differential release of 0.331 A. At a noise current of 6900 A obtained a differential current value of 1.763 A, because the current setting is smaller than the differential current then the differential release will work and give the order to the PMT to decide (Trip). While at the disturbance of 3800 A obtained the value of the differential current of 0.219 A, differential relay will not work because the current setting is greater than the differential current.
