Abstract
Breast cancer is a cancer with the highest incidence rate in the world, including Indonesia. The use of chemotherapy drugs can cause normal cell or tissue damage, thus encouraging the research to search for medicines from natural materials. One of them is Ocimum sanctum. Previous study have suggested that the Ocimum leaf has an IC50 of 6,95 µg/mL in MCF-7 cells. The extraction using maceration method with etanol 96%. Phytochemical screening using Thin Layered Chromatography with n-heksan : acetone (7,5:2,5) as mobile phase. Visualization is using annisaldeid-H2SO4, sitroborat, dragendorf, and FeCl3 spray reagent. Extract were diluted to obtain serial concentration of 500 ; 250 ; 125 ; 62,5 ; 31,25 µg/mL for cytotoxicity test using MTT-assay. Extract of Ocimum sanctum contain alkaloid, terpenoid, and flavonoid. The result of cytotoxic effect against MCF-7 with IC50 176,37 µg/mL and against T47D with the lowest % cell survival is 58,582% on concentration 500 ppm.
