Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe elements of the collection of short stories Dinner with Goddess Gandari Indah Darmastuti (2) to describe the value of character education in the collection of short stories Dinner with Goddess Gandari Darmastuti Indah (3) describe its implementation as a literary material in the classroom VII at MTs N 1 Surakarta. This research uses qualitative descriptive approach. The data used in this study are sentences, paragraphs, and discourses in the three short stories entitled: (1) Men from the sky, (2) Raisha and a box of land, and (3) Steps that show the structure of short stories and values character building. Data collision techniques used are literature studies, references and notes, interviews and questionnaires. Data analysis using heuristic and hermeneutic methods. Data validity uses data tringgulasi and theoretical triangulation. Based on the analysis, the results of this study are (1) the structure of short stories consisting of themes, characters, plot, and background (2) educational values composed of hard work, creative, religious, curiosity, friendly, social care, tolerance, independence, democracy, and responsibility. (3) Short stories Choice can be implemented in learning in MTs class VII semester 1 with curriculum 2013 on KD 4.1. by applying a scientific approach and viewed from its eligibility to students, based on aspects of language, psychology, and cultural background has been accepted, and has been recognized by teachers in MTs N 1 Surakarta.
