Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of variation of volume and shape of riser channel to shrinkage, porosity defect, density, hardness and micro photo. The raw material of this research is used aluminum from various components which are re-casted.In this study the adder channels used are circular, square and triangular. Tests to be performed include depreciation test, density test, porosity observation, chemical test, brinell hardness test (ASTM standard E 10), and micro photo test (ASTM standard E 3).The results showed that the highest mean shrinkage was found on the triangle riser of 2.31%, while the 2.03% rectal riser channel and the lowest shrinkage on the circle riser was 1.78 %. The highest density result is in the triangle riser of 2.517 and the circle riser of 2.412, and the lowest density value in the square riser is 2,321. The chemical composition found in Alumunium (Al) 86.79% as the main material, and Silicon (Si) 9.49%, so that the existing elements include aluminum alloy silicon (Al-Si). The highest hardness price is in the riser triangle of 76.70 (HBN), while the riser circle 74.72 (HBN) and the square riser is 72.33 (HBN.Keywords: Addition Channel, Aluminum Alloy, Shrinkage, Density, Porosity, Hardness, Micro Structure, Sand mold
