Abstract
Neonatal mortality (AKN) and under-five mortality (AKB) can be suppressed by exclusive breast feeding. The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship of knowledge, husband’s support, healthcare support, and mother motivation with exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of Puskesmas Gilingan in Surakarta. The type of this research is quantitative analytic research with cross sectional approach. The population in this research were all mothers who have babies 6-12 months old in the working area of Community Health Center Gilingan in Surakarta that amounted to 72 babies. The sample selection of 66 babies was done by using exhaustive sampling technique. Statistical test technique using Chi Square test. The result of the research shows that there is a correlation between knowledge (p-value = 0,009; r= 0,331), there is correlation between husband’s support (p-value = 0,002; r= 0,378), there is correlation between healthcare support (p-value = 0,008; r= 0,335), there is correlation between mother motivation (p-value = 0,001; r= 0,405) with exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of Community Health Center Gilingan in Surakarta. The result of multivariate analysis shows that motivation (p=0,001; OR=13,405; 95%CI=2,728-65,864) is the most dominant factor in association with exclusive breastfeeding. Community Health Center Gilingan can improve continuous exclusive breastfeeding through posyandu and maternal support grups and increase husband’s knowledge by including in pregnant classes.
