Abstract

More voltage due to lightning surge on the power transmission line is one of the causes of interference that may cause protection failure and damage to the power grid. The frequent disruption of the 150 kV transmission line is due to direct lightning on tower and ground wire which can lead to back flashover. Good tower foot resistance is a way to reduce lightning surge currents, tower foot resistance is set less than 10 ohm. Good tower foot resistance can reduce the number of insulators in one insulator in the transmission tower and stay safe from lightning surge, then earthing of a transmission tower should be good. . Methods in this study with collecting ground data obtained from Basecamp Surakarta, soil type and insulator resistance tower stand on the type of swampland and fiel soil. Prisoners of swampland type of 10-40 ohm meters, obtained earthquake resistance of 2,88 ohm for swamp and 5,76 for type of field soil. The result it can be concluded that the prisoners of ground tower meet the existing standards. Baased on the calculation of earth prisoners and referring to the state electricity company standad (SPLN) 13 : 1978 the number of insulator required in the transmission tower which has a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohm is 7 units.
