Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-confidence and peer interaction with smoking behavior in adolescents. The subject of this research is 80 teenagers who are in a stall selling food and drink and there are teenagers who smoke themselves or with friends, aged between 14-20 years. Sampling using random sampling technique. Data collection using 3 scales, namely the scale of confidence, peer interaction scale, and the scale of smoking behavior. Data analysis technique used is multiple regression analysis with stepwise method. The results showed there was a very significant relationship between self-confidence and peer interaction with smoking behavior in adolescents. Taken together, confidence and peer interaction variables correlated with smoking behavior in adolescents contributed 8.1%.
