Abstract
Background : Stroke is a leading cause of disability and mortality throghout the world. Mortality of ischemic stroke is increasing along with the number of risk factors present. Hemoglobin level and gender are risk factors which related to increasing mortality in ischemic stroke. Objective : This study aims to identify the relationship between Hemoglobin level and Gender with mortality rate of ischemic stroke patients Method :This research type is analytic observational with cross sectional approach. The number of samples used were 98 samples taken by consecutive sampling technique. Samples were medical record of ischemic stroke patienst. Medical record complete with laboratorium findings, gender, and patient's mortality status. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square and logistic regression test with SPSS 23.0 for window program. Result: The results of statistical analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between gender (p= 0.002) and hemoglobin level(p= 0.004) with mortality rate of ischemic stroke patients. In regression model showed that female patients had 2,9 times more risk for death than male patients {p=0.020; OR 2,9{CI 95% (1,178– 7,187)}. Meanwhile, ischemic stroke patients with low hemoglobin level had 2.5 time risk for death than patients with normal hemoglobin level {p=0.040; OR 2.5 {CI 95% (1.045-6.431)}. Conclusion : Female sex and low hemoglobin level associated with increasing risk of mortality in ischemic stroke.
