Abstract

The elderly is someone who reaches the age limit of 60 years and above, the biologically advanced age is considered as someone who has experienced a physical decline and more vulnerable to the disease that lead to death. The disease in the eldery is mostly caused by degenerative processes such as rheumatic disease, hypertension, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes mellitus, paralysis or paralysis partial fracture, fracture and cancer. Lack of knowledge abaou hypertension problem for the ederly affect the ederly perceptions in response to hypertension problem suffered. Fequent misperception about hypertension problem in the ederly will have an impact on the pattern of applying ederly care with hypertension. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on knowledge and ederly perceptions about hypertension disease in Malangjiwan Colomadu. This type of research is a quantitative research using Quasi Experimental research method, with the design used is pretest and posttest control. The study population is 472 people. The sample was calculated with a total sampling of 82 people, 41 subjects were used a treatment group and 41 were used as control group according to sample criteria. Result of the research from the result of statistical tests with the correlation paired sample t-test result concluded that there is effectiviness of health education to incrase knowledge abaou hypertension disease to increase knowledge of respondents elderly treatment group in Malangjiwan Colomadu (p-value= 0,000). The average pretest value of treatment group knoeledge was 10,7 and the posttest 14,4. The conclusion of this research is health education hypertension influence to knowledge and perception of elderly in Malangjiwan Colomadu village
