Abstract

Hypertension is one of the leading causes of death in people in the world. The prevalence of hypertension has reached 31,7% of all population. This increase due to lifestyle, changes example is smoking. The purpose of this study the relationship between smoking habits and the occurence of hypertension on employees CV Lusindo, Sukadanau, West Cikarang.This research using observational analytics with cross sectional. Sampling is done by consecutive sampling and obtained 76 smoking samples and 76 non-smoking sample. The sample of this research is employees CV Lusindo, Sukadanau, West Cikarang with criterion of male age 25-55 years and have no diesease other than hypertension for example heart, diabetes mellitus, stroke, kidney and hyperthyroid. Instruments in this study using a questionnaire, and sphygmomanometer to measure blood pressure.Statistical test result using Chi-Square test got probability value (p<0,05) for significance. Result of research there was relation significant between smoking habit with hypertension (p=0,000) that is influenced by the length of smoking (p=0,018) and how to smoke (p=0,046), but there is no relationship between criteria of smokers (p=0,328), age of smoking (p=0,942) and type of cigarette (p=0,237) with the occurence of hypertension.In this study there is a significant relationship between smooking and hypertension in employees CV Lusindo, Sukadanau, West Cikarang with influenced, factor was the long smoking and how to smoke.
