Abstract
This study aims to: 1) determine the shape and analyze the word absorption contained in the Novel of the Split Moon in the Sky of America by Hanum Salsabiela Rais, 2) applying the use of the word absorption in novel Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika by Hanum Salsabiela Rais as teaching materials in learning Indonesian in high school class XII. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. This study can use any space as a place of study. The execution time in this research is carried out for six months i.e. March-August 2017. Sources of data can be obtained from a complete and verifiable data reinforcement, researchers retrieve data sources through words obtained in a novel titled Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika by Hanum Salsabiela Rais. While the data obtained is the use of absorption element in the form of words that are in the novel. The results showed that there are two classifications of the use of the word absorption in the novel Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika by Hanum Salsabiela Rais, namely 1) the use of word absorption with the adjustment of spelling and pronunciation, 2) the use of the word absorption without spelling or pronunciation adjustment. This study shows the use of the word absorption in the novel that has been analyzed can be used as a teaching material of students in analyzing novel text in SMA / MA class XII.
