Abstract
This study aims to find out how the identity of a cosplayer that does crossdress can be formed and how the gender identity of the crossdresser. The type of research used is qualitative research with descriptive approach. Technique of collecting data by in-depth interview (indepth interview) and observation. Sampling by using purposive sampling by taking 3 informant which is cosplayer-crossdress member of Jaico community. The results show the identity of cosplay-crossdress can be formed because the role of media both print and electronic media. In addition, the influence of the surrounding environment such as the association with school friends and the closest people also determine in the formation of identity. Cosplay identity arises from the desire to escape from everyday identity. Cosplayer makes cosplay as a hobby as well as work and hobbies at certain times. Gender identity in cosplay is not attached to the gender expression they display. In this case, especially crossdress cosplay actually shows the flexibility of identity in accordance with different contexts and times.
