Abstract
ABSTRACT Nanik Nurwani. S. 200 150 008. The Characteristics of Indonesia Language Learning in Religious-based School (Site Study at MTs Negeri Gemolong, Sragen). Theses. Magistrate Program of Language Study, Post-graduate School of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. 2017. The objectives of the research are to describe: 1) the characteristics of Indonesia language learning materials in speaking skills; 2) the process of Indonesia language learning in speaking skills; and 3) the evaluation of Indonesia language learning in speaking skills at MTs Negeri Gemolong, Sragen. The type of the research is qualitative research employing ethnographical design. The research was done at MTs Negeri Gemolong, Sragen. The data collecting methods were done using in-depth interview, observation and document techniques. The data analysis was done using interactive model comprising three main components, namely: data reduction, data display, and verification. The data validation was done using triangulation technique. Based on the analysis, the research concludes that: 1) the Indonesia language learning material of speaking skills at MTs Negeri Gemolong Sragen were largely the materials related to religious dakwah. The source of the materials were taken from learning sources such as Electronic Books (BSE), Students Working Sheet (LKS), and other sources taken from Internet and mass media both printed and audio-visual media; 2) The learning process of the Indonesia language learning material of speaking skills were largely done to improve students’ speaking skills in religious dakwah such as Short Speech (Kultum) and khutbah. The learning processes were done both in classroom and mosque. The target of using public speaking practice model in learning, was the output in the form of students that capable to use their speaking skills within their communities environment; and 3) the evaluation of Indonesia language learning in the aspect of speaking skills at MTs Negeri Gemolong Sragen was done using authentic assessment. The assessment was done to gain information of the students’ progress in their speaking competences’ achievements. The assessment was done in accordance to the speaking skills rubric assessment comprising indicators of: (1) clarity; (2) fluency; (3) expression; (4) intonation; (5) diction; and (6) coherence.
