Abstract
The condition of drainage is very important thing to be considered in pavement. Poor drainage is generally the main cause of damage to pavement. Excess rain water runoff that inundate the surface of pavement can result in road damage and can loosen the bonds between aggregates with asphalt so that passing vehicles will give the load causing a crack and weakens the adhesion that finally causes road damage and roughness pavement construction age be reduced. This research aims to determine the quality of drainage in its effect on road damage and to know the link between damage to the road with residual age. The research was conducted based on the method of AASHTO (American Association of State Highway Transportation) 1993 using LHR data and road inventory data covering which includes handling of history, status, wide path, type the path, and the layers of the surface used to determine the value of Realibility, Mr (Resilient modulus), ESAL (Equivalent Single Axle Load), SN (Structural Number), and then the Serviceability to determine the value of the age and condition of roughness factor the rest of the way. As for drainage quality against damage roads, the first step in evaluation is visual observations in the field by observing the condition of drainage by the method of time to drain on the quality of the drainage in the ability drain the water in the saturated conditions then observe the impact on conditions of road roughness followed by analysis of the discharge which is used to determine the condition of road damage caused the quality of drainage conditions. Based on the results of evaluation of drainage quality to early damage of flexible pavement with AASHTO 1993 method and research method in field suggest that the road studied have significant damage condition, that is evidenced by the occurrence of the damage alligator crack by 203.5 m2 or 43.084 %, this indicates on the road early damage because road pavement damaged in the third year which was unable to maintain its strength until the service age which is planned for 10 years. The quality of drainage based on time to drain on a section of road of experience burnout/flooded around the surface of the road and not the whole there is a channel next to the road suffered cracked and pitted time loads drift. The plan 10 years obtained the value of residual age (RL) of 48.55 % with the assessment of moderate conditions. In the effort of handling the damage occurs, the corrective action needs to be done in order to anticipate the excess damage to the rehabilitation of the road such as patching and overlay and also improvement of channel drainage system.
