Abstract
Cerebral palsy is a non-specific, descriptive term pertaining to disordered motor function. The term cerebral palsy is directed to both hemispheres of the brain where the damage occurs in the brain's motor areas that will interfere with the brain's ability to control movement. There are many forms of cerebral palsy in children which one of them is hemiplegia who affects the upper and lower limbs of one of the right or left sides. This condition is characterized by poor muscle control, stiffness, paralysis and other neurological disorders resulting in difficulty controlling movement, hearing, sight, and thinking ability. Neuromuscular taping (NMT) method can be one form of healing in cerebral palsy hemiplegic which is able to stimulate skin receptors with its decompressive concept. This technique can help provide passive stretching that encourages flexibility and coordination and improves movement in children with cerebral palsy. To determine the effect of neuromuscular taping (NMT) on the decrease of spasticity in children with cerebral palsy hemiplegic. This study is an analytic descriptive case study with ABAB design, in which there are two groups: experimental group and control group. The samples in the treatment group were given NMT for two days and two days without NMT with frequency 6 times for 3 weeks. Measurement of the decrease of spasticity is done by asworth scale. Data analysis was done in the form of descriptive data, that is the form of decrease of spasticity which will be measured with asworth scale at each before and after NMT and presented in graph of result From pre and post test for each sample. There was NMT effect on spasticity in children with cerebral palsy hemiplegic seen from decreased spasticity in children and motion control. There was NMT stimulus effect on the decrease of spasticity in children with cerebral palsy hemiplegic.
