Abstract
This study aims to describe 1). Thr role of urban people in maintaining mutual cooperation in urban communities, 2). Constraints on the role of urbanites in maintaining mutual cooperation in urban communities, and 3). Solutions to overcome the obstacles of urban roles in maintaining mutual cooperation in urban communities. This research uses descriptive qualitative. Data collection uses observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity uses source triangulation and technique. Data analysis uses interactive models through data collection, data reduction, presentation and conclusion. The result of the research shows that: 1). The role of the people in maintaining mutual cooperation in urban societies is able to be actively involved in the work of devotion, willingness to perform tasks according to agreement, willing to help others without expecting rewards, active in group work, focusing on grup goals, not prioritizing personal interests, seeking ways to overcome differences opinions/thoughts between oneself with others, and encourage others to work together to achieve common goals; 2). Obstacles experienced, namely the first urban feel marginalized or isolated, second it’s difficult to play an active role in the mutual cooperation community activities; 3). The solution provided is that indigenous people can provide information to the urban, improve the attitude of participation to the community, and urban people can take a dominant role to be a leader in community activities compared with the indigenous population.
