Abstract
Metal casting industries has grown and personating as an industry that contributes substantially to local income. Metal casting industries in Ceper, Klaten as one of them. The research was conducted in two metal casting factories, IKM Maria Jaya and IKM Mukti Abadi. Physical work in metal casting factory indirectly affect the worker’s mental condition. Physical conditons that already feel tired effected workers decreased concentration. As well as the necessity in dividing concentration in mental activities and maintaining the stability of physical condition. The unavailability of health also safety attributes and equipments to ensure the prosperity of the work effected the workers feeling anxiety if the unwanted things being happened. The NASA-TLX method measure how much workload of workers perceives because the result of the heavy job activities in metal casting factory. NASA-TLX can identify a mental workload based on 6 dimensions of measurement categories such as mental demand, physical demand, time demand, performance, effort, and frustation level. In each IKM of metal casting factories is measured and determined the most factors affect of the mental workload perceived. The average of mental workload on IKM I is 68,625 with medium category, meanwhile mental workload in IKM II is 61,73 with medium category. This shows the mental workload of IKM I is heavier than IKM II. The field condition is better and safer in IKM II, due to the ideal factory area with the movement of workers in doing heavy physical activities.
