Abstract

In this research using carbon husk rice, fiber glass, barium sulphate, calcium carbonate and aluminium powder (Al) with grain size 50,60,80, and 100 mesh with polyester matrix which will be tested by hardness testing method with ASTM D2240 standard, micro photo, wearness and coefficient of friction on dry conditions, water effect condition, and oil effect condition. From the results of hardness test obtained the highest hardness value of variation of the canvas with aluminium mesh 100 is 87.61. The results of the highest swing test of all conditions of the mesh variations of 100 are 10.977, 22.641, and 24.699. From friction test result got the highest coefficient of friction on dry condition and condition of influence of water on aluminium mesh 100 variation with value 0,884 and 0,834, whereas at condition of influence of oil value of coefficient of friction highest at aluminium mesh 80 variation is 0,846. From the results of the discussion of the test results concluded that the influence of large aluminium grain on the value of hardness, wear and friction coefficient on brake pads.
