Abstract

Background: Obesity has become a health and nutrition problem of the world community, both in developed countries and in developing countries. This happens because of an imbalance between energy coming out with energy intake. Abdominal obes can be seen from the circumference of the abdomen and waist. The way to reduce abdominal circumference is to exercise, one exercise that can be done is by practice Yoga. Objective: To know the benefits of yoga practice to reduce the stomach circle of housewives in Sukoharjo. Method: This research type is quasi exsperiment. This research was conducted with pre and post test approach with one groub pretest-posttest design. The sample size was 15 people and subjected to treatment and control subjects. Data analysis using test shapiro wilk test and Paired simple test T test. Result: Pre and post test result used paired simple T-test, if the result of sig (p) <0,05 then there is difference between pre and post. Based on the above table shows that after being given yoga practice obtained Z = 2.933 and the value of P = 0.000 or <0.05, it can be concluded that there is influence of yoga practice on decrease in abdominal circumference value. Conclusion: There is an influence of yoga practice on the decline of abdominal circumference in housewives in Sukoharjo.
