Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to: (1) Describe the role of the principal in developing the professional competence of teachers in SD Negeri 1 Jati Karanganyar. (2) Describe the role of the principal containts in developing professional competence of theachers in SD Negeri 1 Jati Karanganyar. (3) Descibes a solution principal in developing competence of teachers in SD Negeri 1 Jati Karanganyar. This research includes qualitative research including phenomenology. Interviews in this study are the principal and classroom teacher. The technique of data collection is done with interview, observation dan documentation. The data were analyzed by means of reduction of the data, presentation of data, then withdraw of conclusion. The technique of the validity of data by using triangular triangular teqniques and sources. The showed that: (1) The role of the principal in developing the professional competence of teachers, namely: a. As the manager right strategy for empowering educational personnel. b. As administrator has close links with a wide range of administrative management activities which are recording, compilation and documentation of the enter school program. c. As a debilitation can now supervisior hallmark of teachers in implementing learning. d. As the leader has responsibility of moving whole resources are there in the school. e. As the innovator has a strategy to develop innovative learning models. (2) The principal constraints in developing professional competence of teachers, namely: a. Teachers lack ICT media master as part of professional development. b. Most of teachers are less creative in implementation plan of instruction. (3) Solution principal in developing professional competence of teachers, namely: a. The principal tranining devised a plan of implementation of learning and provide a sample implementation plan a good match capabilities of teacher.
