Abstract

Acetone plant with isopropyl alcohol raw material is planned to be established in industrial area of Surabaya, East Java with capacity 15.000 ton/year with land area 15.000 m2 . The process of making acetone is done by dehydrogenation process. The reaction takes place in the gas phase, irreversible, endothermic and non-isothermal adiabatic, at 350oC and 2 atm pressure. The need for isopropyl alcohol for this plant is 2,182,5473 kg/hr. The product of acetone is 1,893,9394 kg/hour. The process support utility includes the water supply for the process of 720,1813 kg/hr, obtained from Brantas River water, steam supply of 4,046,5580 kg/hr obtained from WHB and boiler with fueloil fuel for boiler of 863,7544 kg/hour, electricity demand is obtained from PLN of 56.9133 kW and one generator set as reserve, diesel fuel 3,8991 kg/hour. The plant is planned to operate for 330 days per year with the number of employees 186 people and fixed capital Rp22.273.151.015, working capital Rp353.060.154.862. From the economic analysis of this factory obtained profit before tax Rp140.009.040.512/year, after tax deducted 35% profit reached Rp91.005.876.333/year. Percent Return On Investment (ROI) before tax 50,29% and after tax 32,69%. Pay Out Time (POT) before tax 2 years and after tax 3 years. Break Even Point (BEP) of 41.02% and Shut Down Point (SDP) of 30.51%. Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) is calculated at 31.00%. From the above data it can be concluded that this factory is interesting to be established.
