Abstract

The quality of the relationship is a condition that must be established between both parties, in this case the caregiver and the juvenile orphanage so that the caregiver can perform their duties maximally. The research is purposed to test effictivity of nurturement interpersonal communication training for developing relationship quality among orphanage susters-foster teenagers. This study uses quasi experimental design, with a non-randomized pretest-postest control group design with two groups: experiment and control. The subjects were 13 orphanage susters with intermediate level of quality who were divided into 7 experimental group and 6 control group. The hypotheses of this study were (1) there was a difference in the quality of the relationship between the experimental and control groups after treatment was given and (2) there was a difference in the quality of the relationship in the experimental group before and after treatment. The results show that the training of interpersonal communication care is not effective to improve the quality of the relationship. Qualitatively, it is caused by the lack of some things that is from the participant side, facilitator, implementation and module instructions. The implication is that this study contributes new insights to the science of clinical psychology and development, especially regarding the quality of relationships.
