Abstract

Garbage is a part of human life that can’t be separated, garbage problems arise because of human behavior that deviates from the norms of life. Garbage in Surakarta City entering Putri Cempo TPA since 2011-2015 has increased 500 tons per year, if left will cause various problems, so that need effective management and right target that is Bank Trash. This study aims to (1) Determine the role of Garbage Bank in reducing the volume of waste in Surakarta City, (2) Analysis of the influence of the existence of Bank Trash on the behavior of the community in managing waste, to achieve a healthy environment in the city of Surakarta. The research method used is survey, for sampling using purposive proportional sampling that is taking sample using certain consideration but in accordance with proportion of number of member. Consideration of the use of such method is the customer of Garbage Bank and the Management of Garbage Bank considered to have implemented the management with 3R method. The results showed that garbage Bank has a positive role in reducing waste products, if it is assumed that the population of Surakarta City become a customer, then its waste production is 128.057 Kg / Day, with the ratio of garbage entering Putri Cempo TPA in 2015 is 274.705 Kg / day, thus There will be 146,648 Kg of garbage that can be managed. In the meantime, there are 4 Waste Banks in four districts that implement good management system and 3R method as follows: BPK Trash Bank in Laweyan Sub-district, Waste-Prosperous Bank in Serengan Sub-district, Mekar Asri Trash Bank in Jebres Sub-district, and Waste Bank Green Life Center in Kecamatan Banjarsari. And the influence of the Garbage Bank on the behavior of the Surakarta community as follows, the waste bank customers can reduce daily waste production from 0.54 Kg / o / day to 0.25 Kg / o / day, the reduction of diseases such as DHF and Diarrhea, Understand the waste that must be managed or that can’t be managed.
