Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to: (1) describe the teacher's understanding of the Curriculum 2013; (2) to explain the implementation of Curriculum 2013 on Social Studies lesson; (3) analyze the factors that support and hinder the implementation of Curriculum 2013 in social studies learning. This research is qualitative research conducted in field. The research was conducted in SMP Negeri 3 Sawit Boyolali. Classes studied were grade 8. Sources of data obtained from the d ata primary from interviews with sources: The principal, deputy principal areas of curriculum, social studies teacher, and students. The technique of collecting data using interviews, observation and documentation. Data were analyzed using qualitative analysis consists of data collection, data reduction, verification, and conclusion. The results showed that: (1) The understanding of teachers in SMP Negeri 3 Sawit about Curriculum 2013 is the curriculum of the previous curriculum curriculum 2006 (KTSP). Changes in the curriculum focuses on the social aspects, the knowledge, skills and attitudes as the resulting outcome; (2) Implementation of Curriculum 2013 in IPS learning activities at SMP Negeri 3 Sawit starting from planning, implementation and assessment; (3) Supporting Factors and Obstacles in the implementation of Curriculum 2013 on Social Learning, among others; Supporting factors: a) Learning infrastructure facilities in quantity and quality are sufficient; b) The existence of school programs in the implementation of the Curriculum 2013 include: curriculum socialization, the formation of the committee, the existence of the curriculum development team, and the direction of the school leadership. c) There is a performance appraisal system for teachers and students. Inhibiting factors in the implementation of Curriculum 2013 include: Weak ability of teachers in conducting assessment instruments independently or sustainably, limited (funds, time, and energy) in the use of learning methods, lack of readiness of students to learn independently.
