Abstract
Batik has been declared as the Heritage of Humanity for Oral and Non-Obesity Culture (Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity) by UNESCO since 2009. Batik Putra Laweyan and Merak Manis Batik House has been producing batik since long time. Most of the batik process is done in a sitting position on a small chair that is approximately 16.8 cm in height. Sitting position is certainly able to cause rapid fatigue, this is due to the position of the bent legs (dingklik / squad) and no seat on the chair. Working position by sitting stool can cause injury to the musculoskeletal part of the back and waist. The purpose of the research is to design or redesign a good work station for batik makers. So that ergonomic chair design is available for writing batik and reduce the risk of injury. The methods used to determine complaints and risks of injury are Nordic Body Map and BRIEF Survey, and for design based on anthropometric data. Results from the Nordic Body Map states body parts Back, Shoulder, and Waist most complained with each score 12, 12, and 11 people. In the BRIEF Right Hand Survey has the highest risk of injury with a risk level of 3 (high) and Left Hand, Right Arm and Left, and Neck has a level of risk 2 (medium). The designed workstation produces an ergonomic design by reducing the risk of injury to the batik body by altering the position of the gateway in front of the batik and elevating the stove's position with an additional table. Then the working position remains circular, so do not change the working atmosphere at the time of batik and the batik can still communicate with each other.
