Abstract
Problem statement of this research is, “What are the students’ difficulties in writing pantun appropriate with pantun requisite?” and “What are the factor which make the students having difficulty in writing pantun that appropriate with pantun’s requisites?” Therefore, this research aims to describe the students’ difficulties in writing pantun appropriate with pantun requisite and identifying the factor which make students having difficulty in writing pantun that appropriate with pantun’s requisites. This research done in VII A class SMP Negeri 16 Surakarta. The subject of this research amounted as 28 students. The technique of data collecting through assignment, document, and closed questionnaire. The data testing technique used triangulation method. This research used triangulation method through open questionnaire. Open questionnaire used as interview reference. This research findings explained that difficulties which students have are searching for suitable lexical or words to rhyme pantun, and compare with the end rhyme so pantun can verse ab-ab. As the result of interview, the researcher find out that students have the difficulty to find the suitable words that have the same end letter when writing pantun to make interesting rhymes. Also, the student have the difficulty to find words in the end of the pantun line which have the same end letter, to make the ab-ab pantun’s verse.
