Abstract

Background: Generally, diarrhea is defecation of liquid or half liquid (half solid) feces. Water content in the feces is more than normal, over 200 gram or 200 ml/24 hours. Diarrhea is a disease caused by people’s cleanliness, therefore the government used Clean and Healthy Behavior (PHBS) program to prevent and reduce its incidence. Purpose: This study aimed to determine and analyze the relation between clean and healthy behavior and acute diarrhea incidence in students of Pondok Tremas, Pacitan Regency. Method: The research method is quantitative with cross sectional approach. It was performed in Pondok Tremas, Pacitan Regency, on May 2017 on 51 students. Data was analyzed by chi-square analysis. Result: The research result showed that most students in pondok pesantren Tremas, Pacitan Regency, had poor clean and healthy behavior. The result of chi-square test showed significant relation (p < 0,05) between clean and healthy behavior and diarrhea incidence in Pondok Pesantren Tremas, Pacitan Regency. Conclusion: There was relation between clean and healthy behavior and acute diarrhea incidence in Pondok Pesantren Tremas, Pacitan Regency.
