Abstract

Background: Scoliosis is a disorder of the skeleton of the spine curvature, where there is a bending of the spine to the left or right side or spinal abnormalities of the C or S. Form Common signs of scoliosis include the different shoulder blades, the shoulder blades Prominent, real curvature of the spine, bevelled pelvis, the difference between arm and body space. The degree of scoliosis can be known by the Adam Forward Bending Test and the Skoliometer. With this physiotherapy is expected to prevent and reduce and provide education in order to avoid further complications in patients with posture disorders such as scoliosis. Research Objectives: To determine the relationship between students' sitting attitude habits while learning with the occurrence of scoliosis. Research Method: This research is an observational research with cross sectional design approach, which is used to identify the relationship between sitting habit factor with the occurrence of scoliosis in elementary school students, junior high school, vocational high school. Sample in this research are 300 sample, research sample that is elementary school student, junior high school, vocational high school that fulfill inclusion criteria. Results: Respondents who sat in the wrong position were 15 people (23.44%) in elementary school students, 36 people (56.25%) in junior high school students, 13 people (20,31) in high school students. While respondents who experienced scoliosis were 19 people (34.55%) in elementary school students, 11 people (20.0%) in junior high school students, 25 people (45.45%) in high school students. This data was tested by bivariate crosstabulating test and the results obtained there is a relationship between the habit of sitting attitude with the occurrence of scoliosis. Conclusion: The habit of sitting the wrong attitude when learning was associated with the incidence of scoliosis.
