Abstract

Non Formal Education has a role that is not less important with Formal Education. Based on the Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 20 year 2003 on the National Education System CHAPTER XV second part of Subsection 55 clausa 1: the Society is entitled to provide community-based education on formal and non-formal education in accordance with religious, social, and cultural for the benefit of society. The mosque as a center of worship is very appropriate in the development of non-formal Islamic education. This research aims to find and describe the role of Jami 'Syarif mosque in improving the quality of Non-formal Islamic Education, as well as to know the supporting and inhibiting factors of activities in improving the quality of Non-formal Islamic Education in the Jami' Syarifmosque, Saripan, Makamhaji. This type of research is field research with qualitative approach. Research data obtained through interviews, documentation, and observation with the Jami 'Syarif mosque. Then from the data analyzed by using descriptive method qualitative done by giving meaning, from that meaning is drawn the conclusion with the inductive mindset. The results of this study stated that Jami 'Sharif Mosque has a very important role in improving the quality of Non-formal Islamic Education in surrounding communities, and it is proof from the activities held by manager mosque and his staff such as the activities of Assembly recitation, Education Park of the Qur'an (TPA), and Others. The supporting factor in improving the quality of non-formal Islamic education in Jami 'Syarif mosque is the compilation of activity program, the many of jama'ah is enough and always active, the communication and good cooperation between manager mosque, teenage mosque and jama'ah in around mosque. While the inhibiting factor is the less of awareness of the community to follow the activities routinely and the learning methods are monotonous and less varied.
