Abstract

Basic teaching skill is a special skill that should be known by the teacher in order to do teaching and learning effectively, efficiently and professionally. The objective of this study is to determine the difficulties of Biology Education students Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta in mastering the basic skills of teaching in microteaching 2016/2017 academic year. The research is a descriptive. Data collection techniques used three techniques, there are questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The sampling technique is purposive sampling by taking 66 students at from 193 students. The result of this research on the difficulties of Biology education students of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta 2014 are they states that it's difficult and get the highest percentage of skills in creating variation, therefore it can be concluded that the basic skills of teaching which difficult to master is the skills of creating variation (25.58%), for the variation of using media (29.26%).
