Abstract
The object of the research is the novel entitled Little Women. The major problem of this study is how the effects of Civil War are reflected in Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women based on Sociological approach. This approach is aimed at analyzing the structural elements of Little Women and describing the effects of Civil War in the story based on Sociological approach. This research is qualitative research. The object of the study is Little Women written by Louisa May Alcott. The primary data source is Little Women itself and the secondary data sources are the other sources related to the analysis such as literary theory books, and articles from the internet. The method of the data collection is library research by collecting both primary and secondary data. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis based on Sociological approach. The outcome of the study reveals the relationship between the novel and the social reality in American society. In Little Women, Louisa May Alcott describes how the effects of Civil War endanger the community especially families. Louisa May Alcott describes how Civil War influences the life in America through social, economic, political, cultural, religious, and science and technology aspect.
