Abstract

School as one place that is very instrumental in applying character education. School children spend most of their time at school, so what gets in school will affect his character. Many activities can be developed in the context of the application of character education. This study aims to describe the strengthening of environmental caring characteristics, input from stakeholders, and find a draft model of development of environmental caring character in Bengawan Solo School of Nature students. Naturalistic natural qualitative research type at Bengawan Solo Nature Student School in March-June 2017. The source of this research is the chairman of the Foundation, Principal, teachers, and students of Bengawan Solo Nature School. Data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data validity technique uses data triangulation and method triangulation. Interactive analytical techniques through data collection, data presentation, data reduction, and conclusions. The results of the research are (1) Strengthening environmental caring characteristic of Bengawan Solo School students starting from the name of environment-based schools, outputs that can protect the environment and prevent the destruction of the surrounding natural environment and develop efforts to repair the already existing natural damage. Strengthening is done annually through activities in Mosques, markets, rivers, schools, and outbound. The class leader is responsible for his members in carrying out environmental care activities. (2) Stakeholder input to strengthen the education of environmental caring character of Bengawan Solo School students through 3 M are Doing, Doing and Using. (3) The model of development of the strengthening of environmental cares on students of Bengawan Solo Nature School is done outside the learning process, such as the clean-up of river Bengawan Solo.
