Abstract

This research paper elaborates social and moral that is reflected in The Kite Runner novel, which are analyzed through sociological approach. The objectives of the research are to analyze the novel based on its structural elements and to analyze the novel based on the sociological approach, by identifying the relation between the novel and the social background of the early twentieth century and early twenty first century American society. This research paper belongs to a qualitative research. The sources of the data come from both primary data source, which is The Kite Runner novel and secondary data sources are information about the author’s biography, websites about the novel, the social background of America in the last twentieth century and early twenty first century and theory of sociological. The method to analyze the data is descriptive analysis. Having analyzed the movie, the researcher comes to the conclusion as follows: Social and moral in The Kite Runner are mostly found in the characters drawn by Amir and Hassan. The novel deals with the social class relationship that has correlation between the stories with the social reality in American society in the last twentieth century and early twenty first century.
