Abstract
This research aims at developing student’s vocabulary by using multimedia and puzzle applied in teaching vocabulary for Elementary School students and to know the result of teaching vocabulary by using multimedia and puzzle. The research is an action research which is taken as a result of reflection on phenomena problems or issues. In this research the teacher faces two problems. First, he cannot handle the vocabulary. Using Multimedia and Puzzle integratedly is chosen to overcome the problems. This research consists of five cycles and each cycle consists of four steps; planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting the action. The result of the study shows that using multimedia and puzzle is more effective on teaching vocabulary for elementary school students because multimedia and puzzle make the lesson enjoyable and help them learning vocabulary easily. Besides, multimedia make the teacher handle the class better and make almost all of students can practice their vocabulary. The result of the test shows that the mean score of the student’s vocabulary mastery after the teacher conducts the action is 86 and the mean score of students action is 57, 66. The increasing of mean score is 28, 34 and it belongs to medium categories. It means that the implementation of multimedia and puzzle on teaching English vocabulary is effective to develop student’s vocabulary mastery.
