Abstract
The mortality rate of breast cancer increases every year. Breast self examination is an effective prevention effort for early detection of breast lumps. BSE should be done since the age of 20 years every month. Public health students have received preventive education so they have a great opportunity to do BSE. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitude, family support, and information exposure with breast self-examination behavior (BSE) of public health students in Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This research uses observational research with cross sectional approach. The population in this study is a public health student from 2013 to 2015 (4, 6 and 8 semesters) Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta with a sample of 106 people. Sampling using proportional random sampling. The analysis used Chi Square test and Fisher's Exact Test. The result showed that there was no correlation between knowledge (p-value = 0,380), there was correlation between attitude (p-value = 0,005), there was correlation between family support (p-value = 0,000) and no correlation between exposure of information (p-value = 0.481) with breast self-examination behavior (BSE) of Public Health Students in Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta.
